Default Octanes and tunes.

So I just put a CAI and an 89 octane tune on my sixxer. Problem is, my mom thought she would do me a favor and fill my tank up. Nice thought, but now I have a tank almost full of 87 octane. Can I run the 87 until it runs out and then get 89 or should I try and siphon the 87 into a friend's car? I really don't like the thought/taste of gasoline in my mouth.

Do you have an 87 octane tune? You could put your stock intake and tune back on. You could also drive like a grandpa with your current set up. If you hear a can of marbles rattling get off the throttle. Whatever you do don't put octane booster in, it will foul your plugs.

If you are still concerned do a google on toulene, octane, pump gas. You will find the amount of toulene needed to bring your octane up.

I do not, actually. I have 2 89s and a 93. Putting it back on is not an option because I had to go through some serious crap to get the thing on. I won't go into that right now but taking off the CAI is not gonna happen.

You cant run your 89 tune on 87 octane.

Your going to have to get rid of the tune, or the gas.

You could give your freind "half a tank" the fill yours with premium.

It might save you some cash that way.

IMHO, just don't floor it for now, and drive it "normally". When you've used 1/2 a tank, top it off with the highest octane pump gas you can find, and move on... I wouldn't siphon it out man, its not gonna explode. Now if she had put diesel in, then sure...

Another reason I always recommend an 87 custom tune since even THAT rocks over the stock 87. I've had instances where I could only get 87 in the middle of bumfuk at 2 am...

Drive easy or drain 1/2 the tank. Your talkin' 8 gallons.

I just never considered the 87 street because I figured that if I was going to spend 600 bucks to go faster, I had better be going as fast as that 600 bucks can get me.

Some of you are saying to top off with 93 after losing half a tank of 87. Isn't mixing octane fuels pointless? I have heard that fuels don't mix like that and would just create an uneven mix in my tank. Tell me if I am wrong, trust me, I want to be.

It would probably take too long just to let the thing sit outside and idle for a while, right?
