I have 2 BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDWS 235/50R18's on the rear of my car.
It had 4 of them on it when I bought the car 6 months ago.
I picked up a nail thru the inside sidewall. This made the tire junk and non fixable. At the time there was a nationwide back order on this tire.
So I had no choice but to buy 2 new tires. I was offered Michelin's, but the price was HIGH!
So I went with the Hankook's. I brought the car home and washed it. The next morning I took it back to the tire shop and asked to see the Pirelli & Michelin's.
Now what I don't like about any of them except the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDWS.
It's the sidewall appearance. The BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDWS are smooth.
That makes them easier to clean and dirt doesn't stick as easy. They have a smooth / clean look.
All the others have what is called a "Appearance Side". They have all those little raised ridges around the lettering. It's DUMB! It looks like crap to me. The other side on some of the tires is smooth.
But I was brought up in the era when performance cars had "Wide Ovals" on them.
I didn't up the size.....Didn't think to. At $240ea out the door I was already choking.
Please understand I live by a creadance that says. Make things user friendly and Low maintenance. That doesn't mean I don't maintain things. It means that if it's easier to take care of then I like it better and will maintain it better.
Example:
Wheels.
Everyone has their own idea of what looks nice to them. I happen to think Shiny Bullets look the best.
If you buy a wheel that has rivets on them. That means you now have 25 or 30 more little areas that collect dirt and take more time to clean.
A lot of of small holes in a wheel are a No No for me also.
To hard to clean all those small holes. Large holes you can get your whole hand in and clean it quickly.
