which sound system?
You need Shaker 1000 to get the factory sub in the trunk, big rip off, like $1400.
I have the Shaker 500, it is fine for what I want. If you are going to change the deck system anyway, and add your own subs, amp, etc., don't bother with the Shakers. Of course, the Shaker is standard in the Premium models, which almost every '05 is, it seems anyway.

I have the Shaker 500 and it's loud enough for me. Many people had problems with the Shaker 500, it depends when it was made/install. My car was built in June and I haven't had any problems with it so far. I play cds and mp3's and so far so good.
All 2005 Mustangs should have came with Shaker 1000 with subwoofer. We paid enough money for this car.

The Shaker 1000 is a ~$1250 upgrade from the stock radio. I have it, and while it sounds nice, it's definately not $1250 nice. If you're a serious audiophile I'm sure there are much better (and cheaper) aftermarket options. The only reason I got it is because the car on the lot that had everything else I wanted just happened to have this also. I have no plans to change it.
Skipper 5 for me... not too many songs skip.... and I still can fit my golf clubs into my trunk... I agree though that a serious audiophile can find something to do with that extra cash....
