Default Wheel placement

I recentley posted about how my rims were scratched by car wash. Anyway the dealership who ownes the car wash reapired the scratches and put my wheels back on the car. My question is does it matter if they don't go on the same place? My car has only 800 miles on it, and they did not take the tires off. I am assuming everything is still ballanced?

Shouldn't matter if they just touched up the paint. If the wheel is taken off I've heard of some people getting a little shake in their steering wheel as the wheel doesn't sit back on flush (the clips for the rotors get in the way). Just remove them (only on for assemply anyways) and all should be good but you shouldn't have any issues.

Those car washes are hard on cars so be warned. I've had my front bumper scratched twice, one rim scratch and my wifes spare tire cover (fiberglass) completly marked up. We now wash our own cars. Always had in the past but with a new born we didn't have the time so we tried a so called touchless place and nothing but issues.

Those touchless car washes are useless. I have a black mustang and went to a touchless car wash to see what it could do. Well, the dirt was definitely not washed off, it just pushed the dirt around on my car. FAIL!

It depends. A radial tire can be imperfect to the extent that it tends to pull in a particular direction, but still be within acceptable specifications. A Hunter GSP9700 road force balancer with Straight Track can tell the installer in which location each tire should be mounted to minimize pull.

That said, I have the original tires on my car, and they have been rotated so that each tire has been in each location on the car. I never noticed any difference, and never had a wheel re-balanced.

If you don't notice a problem, don't invent one.

Your TPMS system will report the wrong tire as being low if you got them mixed up.
The stealership can retrain the system so that it knows the tires location so that
it can report the correct tire as being low on the heads up display....
