Default Quarter window Louvers - Cleaning nightmare?

Hey Guys,

I have been seriously thinking about installing a set of these on my mustang, but I have a concern.

How do you clean the window under it once they are installed? It was my understanding that you 3M these to the paint around the outside of the window, therefore, once they are on, there's really no taking them off. Unless, you 3M a base to the car and the louvers can detach at any time. I am not really sure how they install either.

As I am clean freak when it comes to my car, not being able to get to my window is a concern.

Thanks.

Your right, cleaning is not really technically possible unless you just spray a jet of water in there. But the fact is that you cant even see the window with the louvers on? 0.0

True, but I use the quarter window for backing out and for checking my blind spot when changing lanes. If they get dirty, I would notice from the inside. And then every time I would think "Awww dirt!!!"

i have the 1/4 window scoops and they are totally closed.
no dirt can come in, but you cant see out of them either.

have you seen the silver horse ones that replace the window?

I have seen them. I am not sure where I stand on them yet. I know I am not real confident about installing them myself.

You could leave a little gap in the 3M tape at the bottom to allow hosed-in water to drain out.

mine are the ford factory type installed at the dealer when i bought the car. they use velco with 3M tape. this allows them to pop right off so i can clean my windows. of course, that also means that any tom, dick or harry can appropriate them for his own collection if he wants to. the way i figure, if that's all i have to worry about i'm ahead of the game.

Hmm never notice dirt in mine, but a wash once a week keeps it out.

How do you wash? Just run water through it? How do you avoid water spots?

Just spray them with water, that should do. I feel like at that point, water spots are not an issue because there won't be many and no one will see them including you, but if you are like me, knowing they are there will kill you. I plan on going with the SHRs, which will be no problem to clean, but for these, I guess you just have to deal.
