Quarter window Louvers - Cleaning nightmare?
http://www.gdielectronics.com/windshieldmop.html
I've got quarter window louvers on my 2011 GT. Dealer installed them before I bought the car. They said it is adhered to the glass. Mine aren't louvered. Solid, they look sort of like an air scoop. They are a plastic material and painted to match the car paint. Anyone one know how to remove these. I don't like them. I was told to use a heat gun. Any suggestions?
These are my louvers on my actual 2005 GT:

They're still using my photo! I had 2 pairs from them and they both looked great and the paint matched perfectly.
First, the windows won't get as dirty if you have louvers over them.
Second, there is a gap between each louver that is big enough for you to insert your chamois to soak up any water left after rinsing off your car. You won't need to wash in there, but if you have a thin wash mitt it would probably fit.
Third, follow the installation instructions and they will stay on. Make sure you have them lined up perfectly as if you pull them off you will need new double side tape.
To remove them warm them up a lot in the sun or with a hair dryer and slowly pull from one corner. You cannot reuse the tape.

you can also buy a plate that covers the inside part of the window. like this http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...--dfWfR_NW58ha you can get these to match the interior color as well.
I am not sure how they are installed, but I would assume, the 3M tape goes around the edge.
So does the tape go all the way around the entire edge of the louver?
If so, is it recommended to leave a gap on the bottom half, ever so small, so that water can run out when it is raining/washing your car?

I have set of the DG custom 1/4 louvers on order as I type. They are supposed to come with the double-sided tape already on there and I am considering removing a small amount of the tape to create a small hole for water to drain. One in the front. One in the rear. I too am concerned about cleaning them because I am a clean freak. I might go as far as removing them once a year just for that purpose.
