Did the seller sell you the handheld tuner with the car?

No, I think he sold it to a buddy, which kinda left me screwed, but at least I can do it & know exactly what I have. I'm actually leaning towards just putting high flow cats on it, I dont want it to be so loud I can't talk to my girl. Or maybe if it's too loud, I won't be able to hear her..... Could be a good thing!?

It was kind of messed up to sell you a car which 'requires' a tune to run safely and efficiently with the stock tune reinstalled so he could pad his profits but I'm sure people do it all the time. I've run with and without cats. It's hella loud without them and trumpets (resonates). Sounds like **** IMO.

Thanks for the info, I'm finding out from alot of people it would be really loud, found a set of high flow stainless cats from AM that are $189 for the pair, seems pretty reasonable to me, just might go with those.

how do you know its the cats? I don't think i have heard of anyone here complaining about cats rattling. I HAVE however heard of the exhaust hangers rattling. mine rattled very bad after I installed my X-pipe. I have a v6 but under the car should look similar

the metal band here was not tight against the body. i just cut the hanger off and that took care of the problem.

It's the cats, I know that for sure, I've been under there checking everything, the ceramic inside is rattling, I went ahead & ordered a pair of high flows this afternoon, may install them next weekend.

I plan on getting a custom tune very soon, I already have LT headers and get the light on occasionally. They are rattling SO bad I need to get them off cause the car sounds like s--t! Should I not drive it & wait for a tune or can I remove them now & get my tune in a couple weeks?? Thanks for any help.
Your cats rattling and all, I think the ceramic honeycomb inside is totally toasted. It could have been form the previous tune and mods, heck, somehow a crap load of raw and unburnt fuel doused the cat elements and they were fried beyond all recognition.

If your state requires emissions controls on the car, but all they do is do a visual inspection, I think it is very possible to take the dead cats off, punch out all that crap inside the dead cats, even if you have to use a hammer and chisel to do it, and reinstall the empty shells back on to satisfy the visual inspections. Then you could buy a MIL or CEL eliminator.

That's what I'll do, there's no inspection here, but I'm concerned about it being too loud with the bassani mufflers, sooooo, I'm replacing the cats, getting a tune with/ and without cats. Saving old cats & empty them out, that way I can use them if I want.

Took cats off today, decided to weld it back up to see how loud it was.
ITS PERFECT!!!!!! so new cats are going back, I'm not using them. My CEL hasn't come on yet either, I only drove it about 5 miles so far. My Bama tune will be here Monday. Sounds great! Even took the wife for a ride & she loved it!!

That's cool you're happy with it! What axle back system (mufflers) are you running? Just FYI, the CEL will eventually come on once the drive cycle (approximately 50-100 miles) completes but I see you have a tune on the way so no problem.
