Problems with the 2012 GT?
#11
I would go with the GT500 man. Personally I like the style of the 05-09 better then the newer ones, and there is a coolness about having the GT500 that the new 12s can't touch.
If you want a 12 though, I agree with the other guys that the only issue so far is the transmission.

The only 'issue' I've noticed with my transmission is under very light acceleration, there is a very distinct mechanical feel and a slight grind when going into third. If you shift into third at exactly 2000 rpm, it's smooth. Under aggressive acceleration, every gear is perfectly smooth. Which, to me, just indicates that the Mustang is meant to driven fast . When I can't accelerate how I'd prefer from a stop, I get the rpms to 3-4k and shift from 1-4, and it's completely smooth.
Other than that, no quality issues. No squeaks, rattles, or anything.

In the order asked:
Yes.
Yes.
No/yes.
My '12 has had these issues:
Front suspension groan over speed bumps (minor)
Whiney trans in all gears on the input side (annoying and cool at the same time, not a big enough deal to take it into the dealer)
Face hurts when grinning for 30m straight after straight-up embarrassing a C5 Z06 (wait, that's not a problem!)

Mines groans over bumps.... Dealer fix, or is that border line normal?
Really, beat a c5 z06 NICE!

Mine groans over bumps too, but only at "parking-lot" speeds, it doesn't make any noise above like 5 mph, which is strange. Everything about the 2012 GT's seems to indicate they're meant to be driven hard. Cruising around at the speed limit just doesn't feel right. For the OP, i'd say go with the 5.0, you can get more performance than a GT500 for alot less money.
