torque converter question
Hello everyone, So i'm thinking about getting a tci 3000 stall torque converter. I don't know a hole lot about them so I was hoping you fellas could help me out. How does this thing work, like can you still drive normally without spinning tires at every stop sign or light or whatever? I do mostly street driving and rarely see the track, I just want one to make my driving experience more enjoyable. Do these things just help with take off or do they help you with shifting threw all the gears? That's all the questions I can think of right now but i'm sure there will be more. Thanks to anybody that can help me out!

I don't believe you'll see much of a change with the tci 3000 stall.. I had heard they use a stock stall converter and change it from the 2200 or whatever it is normally and resell it, but that might not be accurate.. (i'm not sure how they do what they do) but basically I was told you don't feel any difference except it will let you raise your rpms a bit more when you launch at the drag strip. There aren't a lot of people with aftermarket torque converters though so I'm not sure if one will chime in with personal experience (this was 2nd hand info, a friend of a friend so now its 3rd hand heh)
if I were you i'd do gears.. I love the 4.10s, also the driveshaft helped with throttle response and got a bit more power to my wheels.. would recommend those mods for sure. (although the driveshaft is a bit spendy for not a huge difference) youll also get a lot better 1/4 mile times with the 4.10s and you'll quickly get from the 2200rpm range to 3000rpms in 1st with them, nearly negating the benefit of a 3,000rpm stall. I did see someone on the forums get a much better 1/4 time with I think it was a 3500rpm stall though, and he said he liked the stall a lot.. that was in street and strip section maybe a year ago.

If you;re doing mostly street driving, don't bother. A higher-stall converter like that will theoretically need more rpm to get the car rolling. If you like revving up more to get going , or want better 60' times drag racing, then get one. For street driving though, it's not worth the money, IMO.
