Default I want my tuner back!

I finally bought a CAI and tuner a little over a month ago and ive gotten to use it all of a couple minutes. I loaded my lowest octane tune but my tuner was faulty and I was unable to load any other tunes or even power on the unit (it took me forever to get it to work even the once)
Since it had my stock tune loaded on the tuner I had to send the unit to SCT instead of dealing with American Muscle. Perhaps im just being impatient but has anyone else had experience with SCT directly? Im not too sure how I can check on the status or anything seeing as i just mailed it to them with the RMA number they gave me over the phone.

Why dont you just look up the SCT website and call them?
Give them your name and perhaps they have something on file.

How long has it been? I know usually stuff being repaired/replaced under an RMA process can take a few weeks or so...

Generally it takes 10 to 15 business days for them to repair a unit. So then factor in shipping to and from and yes, it could be a month. Give em a call and ask to see if they have an eta on when you will get it back.

Well the unit powers on now but all of my tunes (including stock) are gone and it is reset and unmarried. My car is currently custom tuned though...

Im hoping to get a copy of the tunes sent from american muscle ASAP so i can try to tune it. Im thinking it will assume that the current tune is stock and i will still be able to use it I just wont have a stock tune to return to. If that is the case, can American muscle send me a new stock tune?

edit: just downloaded the SCT software onto my computer and it is unable to communicate with the device... FML

I know AM can send you your custom tune easily enough. I dont really know about if it will save the custom tune loaded on the car currently as the stock one or not.

What error are you getting with trying to get it to communicate with the SCT from cpu?

If i try to do the auto update it says
XXXXXXXXXXX
Part number: ?
Serial Number: ?
Firmware Version: ?
Tune version: unable to unlock programmer

Cant unlock device

If i try any other options it says Device communication failed.

Can the dealership reflash to a stock tune? I dont see much of a solution aside from having that done. The tuner powers up fine now, which it did not do before.
also ive already had to pay shipping to send the tuner to SCT only a couple days after getting it from AM, i dont mind the $14 or whatever it cost me but if i have to get it retuned to stock by the dealership before doing anything i imagine that will cost me much more

FWIW I'm pretty technically inclined, and it took me ages to get the SCT to communicate with windows 7 64bit. I had to reveal the ghost drivers, delete them, and follow the reinstallation process again.

Perhaps this is where your issue is?

ive tried 3 different computers including vista, xp, and 7 and neither have worked. I had hoped i could load the custom tunes and try tricking the tuner into thinking the current tune is stock but without the ability to even get the custom tunes on the tuner im pretty screwed. Ill probably try calling sct again tomorrow to find out about the computer issues
