Just got off the phone with SCT and they are having me send it back to them again to hopefully fix the issue. They are paying for overnight shipping both ways which is pretty cool at least.

zzzzz.... Got the tuner back and it has a new serial number so i need my files updated from Bama. Called them around 4:30 today and they said they would update them and email them out in around 30 minutes. 7:00 rolls around and no email still... I suppose ill call again tomorrow.
Im beginning to think im destined to never have a working tuner

Did they (SCT) manage to recover the stock tune? If you sent this unit back as defective they should have been able to transfer the stock flash info, and shipped out the replacement with it all set up. Or at the very least, given the stock files in an email with instructions on how to put them on the new unit.

Did you try to flash it back to stock yet? You can still use the canned tune stuff from the X3 in the meantime as well. And of course back up the stock files this time.

You have updated to the newest update software and flashed the newest firmware and such via it in the meantime assuming you can flash it back to stock first, yes? Depending on what it currently has firmware wise expect this to take anywhere from 15mins to 2hrs.

The tuner is up to date. Assuming all goes as planned, all i need is for Bama to email the tunes with the update so they will work for the new tuner serial number. The i can tune my car like normal and SCT will remotely put a new stock file on the tuner for me.

So you got the dealer to re-flash your stock one then?

Assuming this is the SCT SF3/X3, it should have canned tunes already on it for various CAI's. Not optimum, but I think they make a good baseline for comparison until you get the Bama ones. And you can then back up the stock files and get a little more out of the pony in the meantime.

You shouldn't need an update on the tunes...
When I got mine back, I just reloaded the tunes onto it with no issues.
The tunes are not specific to the tuner.
You will need updated tunes ONLY if you get car reflashed and the strategy code was changed. It's the sticker on the side of the PCM.

Yes they are. The program won't allow the tunes to load into the tuner unless the sn's match.

Oh, then I stand corrected. Wasn't an issue with mine so I wasn't aware.
Sorry about that!
