I’m sure people are about to have a field day with what I am about to say but here it goes.

I have only painted one thing in my stang and that’s the plastic pieces on the steering wheel, I tried rattle canning it like you did and my results were horrible to say the least.

I ended up going to home depot getting some stripper, flat black house paint, and a foam paint brush and that ended up working great for me!! I know it sounds ridiculous but my results were amazing I get compliments on it all the time some people even think its stock.

To date no flaking or anything still looks brand new.
Not really recommending you do what I did just throwing it out as an option.

Again, light coats with the promoter as well.
+1 on the Bulldog. Discovered this stuff 6-7 years back, and always keep some on hand for projects. Closest thing to super glue for a paint film you're likely to come across.

I actually thought about using a brush-on paint, was curious how that would work.

But I went with Black on the door panels, and the accents silver.
It looks pretty great with my grey interior. Even though the paint job isn't the best. =/

Haha can definitely say I regret not doing my research first =/
