I drove the stang to work today, and it is not the compressor causing the problem. The AC was off.

It is usually felt when I hold the accelerator at a steady position to cruise at a fairly low speed....35-50. All of a sudden, I feel and hear the engine slow down, even though I have not moved the accelerator. It is reminiscent of the feeling you get when the AC compressor switches on.

Thinking what might cause this... it almost sounds like a cylinder momentarily cutting out. Are you running aftermarket COPs? A dirty injector?...

Mine is with the A/C on, shifting from 1 to 2, then 2 to 3, when you get back on the throttle it seems like it takes a second or so to get going, like it bogs down.

TWOKOOL, that is very much like mine too. It seems to lunge a little when the throttle comes back in after a lag. I know the butterfly plates do this around 3000rpm (one of the dumbest ideas ever), but it is not that.

I'll have to use my MAF cleaner and inspect the TB.

I have no aftermarket engine parts except for CAI, tune, headers.

yep,
sounds like you and I are in the same boat. Let me know if the MAF cleaner works and I will make time to do it. We just don't need to throw money at everything it "could" be, only to find out we can fix it for $7.49.

Off topic, but I often accuse our maintenance department of this and refer to it as "Selective Modular Replacement" whenever they goe azz-wild replacing things when they don't have a clue what's wrong.

"selective modular replacement"
I like that.
I think I got me a new phrase, with props to NUKE of course.
