Default Does the 2012 Mustang V6 have an intake silencer?

I know the older ones did and it was cheap simple mod but not sure if the new V6's do. Before I start taking her apart to see just wondering if anybody knew off hand. Thanks guys!

No, S197s 05+ do not have a silencer. Why?

Well it was a good quick mod to do help air intake so I was going to do that to mine if it did have it. Quick and free mod's im all for! Heard theres a good stock intake mod for 2011+ mustangs that you modify the factory air box and intake hose. Need to look more in to that.

Any air intake that does not require a tune is asking for trouble. There have been a number of posts about None-tune CAI's throwing a Check Engine Light for running lean. Also, you will not gain anything more than couple of HP without the tune.

Modifying your stock intake is an even worse idea because then you will not have one to put back in when you start having problems.

Save the cash (and most likely frustration) and do it right.

Yea put a K&N in and going to leave the stock one. Everything I've seen the best bang for the buck is a tune and even a 300 CAI will get you a couple hp at that. Mainly for looks it seems. Definately getting a tune soon, anything before 4000 rpm on this thing is horrible, but over that she's quick. had an 07gt and 08gt that this would easily keep up with if not beat and get's 30 mpg hwy! Just drove to OK and back about 130 miles each way and got an average of 27mpg at 75mph and shes only got 1500 miles on her, still needs broken in. Good job Ford!

i cut the bottom out of my stock air box. mostly to see if i could raise the induction noise. and to the random person looking in, you cant see it. i dont remember if it made any difference in sound though. lol. but thats the only reason i did it.. and the need to modify
