Cant you keep the stock flywheel with the RST? So you wouldn't need to spend $300 on a flywheel.

You should do it right the first time, and get the RST so it'll handle whatever you can throw at it!
Other way around..the 3 plus is the good clutch...I have one for my GT500...lot of the guys on the Shelby forums run it for the high HP rating...

Call Brenspeed and speak with Chandler. I'm thinking about this clutch myself since I will probably need it after putting on the 325/45/17 drag radials LOL! Let us know what he says.

Looks like Brenspeed doesn't sell the RST/X.

I have a funny feeling I know what he is going to recommended...

I've been wondering about clutches aswell. My car is a DD and needs to drive as close to stock as possible with one. Would the Exedy or Mcleod be good for me?

He recommended calling Brenspeed for the Exedy clutches, not McLeod clutch. They highly recommend the Exedy.

I think I'm going with the 500 because I do far more street driving than track. Also, I know a couple guys who installed 600s and replaced the transmissions shortly after. They must grab so hard they mess up the input shaft. This is only speculation on my part though.

FWIW... It took me exactly 2 hard burn-outs/launches with DR's to smoke/slip the stock clutch after it running fine at the same power level for 2 years, so your assumption is probably correct

I can vouch for the McLeod RXT. With the twin disc setup, despite being considered a "drag strip only" clutch, the pedal is even lighter than stock and it drives smooth as silk on the street.

My point was of course they are going to recommend what they sell!

Call a place that deals with both clutches to get an un-biased opinion on what would work best for you.

LOL. Yeah I sent my factory Bullitt wheels off to Weldcraft and they are widening them from the stock 17x8's to 17x10's. I'm going to be mounting the MandH drag radials on them. Since the car is down in the garage now i'm also installing UMI Performance LCA relocation brackets, BBR billett LCA's and an adjustable panhard bar. I'm hoping to make it through spring and summer without having to replace the clutch till next winter but I doubt it after upgrading the suspension and tires. I guess I will be going from tire spin 1st-3rd to smoking the clutch lol. Come to think of it, I may destroy the clutch much sooner since I will be removing the stock rear spoiler and mounting up a new GT 500 spoiler LOL!! The madness never ends does it?
