You will be suprized how much a difference that little mod will make in person. I remember my first post on here, I was super excited and like the 3rd response was a guy telling me to get rid of the fishin pole on the hood.lol
I was like "are ya kiddin?" I just got my dream car and your pokin at me on the antenna?? WTF man???
Well, he was right and I thank him everytime I see that 14" shorty which was on my first order with AM along with my magnetic trunk panel...makes a big difference. Did you get rid of the saleen rocker sticks? Dang, I loved them on your ride

for those wondering, when they blend, they actually do a partial paint on the adjacent panels, in this case the fenders. They detrim (remove emblems, mudguards, mouldings, antennae, liners, etc) and actually paint a portion of the fender.
The eye is more drawn to a hard break in a panel than to the middle of a panel. When they blend the paint, they take that color shift and move it to the middle of the panel where it will be less noticeable. If they left the new paint only to the edge of the panel, it would be more noticeable.
And yeah, OP, $1200 sounds like a good chunk to paint a hood and blend fenders. With the two-tone on the hood it probably made it a bit more expensive, looking at prepping for that and mixing two different paints, but realistically they shouldn't have charged more than an extra hour or so of labor to cover that.
I don't have a system with labor times in it anymore, but hoods generally run about 2.5 hours for paint labor, fenders are generally an hour each to blend.
Add an additional hour for the two tone on the hood, add 60% for clearcoat time on the hood (not calculated for blend operations, base only, not two-tone time), and you're looking at about 7 hours of paint labor. Depending on where you live, labor rates vary, and you need to calculate paint materials as well (also calculated per hour, using the same time for paint labor).
Bottom line, though, the paint looks like it came out great. Be sure not to wax or seal it for about 30 days.
