Default Painting Engine

Ok I should be getting my 4.6l around the 25th. I got the 3650 the other day, I was thinking about painting them. I was thinking along the line of blue for the valve covers and maybe just a bright and shiny finish for the engine and tranny. They are relative clean looking, I will still degrease and prime them, but if anyone has pictures of what they did or what you think would look good let me know.

You could do Ford blue for the block and black cam covers like they did in the '60s...but that might clash with your engine bay if your car is red.

You could go with body color for the block and black for the cam covers...or vice versa that would be a cool custom look I think.

Also just curious, are you going from a V6 to a V8 or replacing a blown 4.6 or what?

Thats cool, I was contemplating putting one of the new 5.0's in my '07 when the time comes to replace the engine, but have concerns about the wiring, harness compatibility etc.

Are you planning on doing a build thread? If so I will be interested to follow your progress.

Good luck on the swap!!

I probably will considering this will be a decent size undertaking, my plans are to make the car have a round 360-370 hp n/a, going to install cams, frpp intake, just ordered a gt500 throttle body, have a stage 3 clutch, billet flywheel, 4.10's, aluminum driveshaft, the engine comes with the steeda underdrive pulley. I will have to purchase a new tuner so I can have free tunes for life, and I will change out all the exhaust system.

Could just do the valve covers and a few layers of high temp clearcoat on the block. Personally i like the aluminum look.

Sounds like you are off to a hell of a good start, should be a fun car when your done!

What are your plans for the car street/strip all out race car? Are you aware of any plug and play harnesses that will make this the 4.6 work with the 4.0 chassis (not sure what all is different)? I wounder if it as simple as getting a GT engine harness and hooking that up to the chassis harness....just thinking out laud.

Its not that bad of a swap I will still need the engine harness, pcm, lots of small parts for the a/c, power steering, fuel system and some other nick nack items. Not sure what my plans are for it, right now it would be a street car, but it would set up for a track car if I can get to a track.
