Default Shaker 500 problem

Have a shaker 500 in my car, driver door speaker started making a weird buzzing type of noise with the radio off, when I turn the radio on and to full volume there is no bass and it no longer gets loud. Have no idea what is going on. Took the battery off and let the car reset and it still does the same thing. Input needed, Thanks.

Your shaker system has 2 amps for those "subs" in the doors, one for each, located just above your foot on the driver's side. Do the other 4 speakers work ok? Normal volume from them? Have a friend with a 05-09 shaker?

The likely-hood of both those crappy little amps going belly-up at the same time is remote, so it's likely either the shaker itself, or the ground/power used by those amps.

Check fuse 16 in the BEC(30 amp) first. Off-hand, sounds like the shaker head-unit itself as an educated guess from previous posts, and actual experience. My 06 that I drove off the lot had an odd hiss to the speakers right from the start, even off, head-unit replaced, fixed, for the whole 5 days I kept it in...

You can try to see if the shaker's self-diagnostic will tell you anything as well:

Well I took the battery off again and let it sit for about an hour this time, seems to be working normal now and the fuses look fine also. From what I have been reading online it looks like my head unit is on its way out and a lot of people have been having problems with the stock shaker 500 head unit.

Yup. OEM systems very rarely are worth a damn, even when they are, they're made as cheaply as possible. So long as you don't have sync, nav, or satellite, which I'm doubting as it's an '06; best to chuck once it dies, and get good after-market head-unit.
