Sorry to hear man! Plenty of idiots out there, and no matter what you do, you'll encounter them and they can screw up your day no matter how careful you are. Hell, every day I come home from work there's at least one guy weaving in and out of rush hour traffic.

These men and women stats are useless. I've been hit by 3 women and 1 guy. That doesn't mean that more women are more negligent than men. The majority of idiot drivers I see out there are men. Must be the testosterone...

Mongoose shouldn't have to use his deductible considering he got the other driver's info. His insurance should go directly through the woman's insurance, he shouldn't have to pay a dime. Or am I missing something here?

I maintain that the real difference is in the TYPE of crash, not in the number of them.

I read a statistic a while back and it said that Male and Female drivers were at fault in automobile accidents nearly 50/50 the only difference was that woman were at fault in more low speed accidents fender benders etc. careless accidents while men were at fault in more high speed accidents taking more risks than woman.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Her insurance will be paying for it in full. Not to mention an ambulance was on the other side of the intersection. The EMT's called the police. Full report was filed.

Madstang is right...
Men do crazy schit because of testosterone and most women simply just don't pay attention, period.
Everytime I have a near miss collision, it's a woman (young one) on the cell phone!
Getting tired of this cr@p too.

Having said that, the nastiest wrecks are caused by men still...

Tannie, please don't take my head off yet.

As far as male vs female in accidents like this - it was a guy who rear ended my car. We were in the construction zone on the highway so a lot of stop and go. Every time we stopped I looked in the rear view mirror and he had his head down texting. He would lift off the brake enough to start rolling forward. The first TWO times we stopped the traffic started moving just before he hit me. The third time I had just leaned over to see if traffic was going to start rolling in time and BAM he ran into me. Enough that the rear bumper had to be replaced, but no other damage and he paid it in full, didn't want to turn it in as an insurance claim he said so I'm sure it wasn't his first time.

It blows...no matter who's at fault, but it does appear more and more that people just have their heads up thier poopers while driving. It happens to me daily in Germany too. Just the other day I had a guy, with his wife in the passenger seat, three little rug-rats in the back seat--not wearing belts (which is a huge no-no over here) pull right the heck out in front of me on the autobahn. I was doing somewhere in the neighborhood of 120 mph, in the left lane (which is the only passing lane in Germany), and he's behind a truck doing maybe 65 mph. He put his blinker on, and starts the move to pull out, when I'm about 150 feet behind and closing fast. I hit the breaks and layed on the horn. Fortunately for both of us he quickly pulled back into the lane behind the truck.

It was one of the few times I've broken the law here too. It's against the law to give anyone the finger, but I would've gladly paid the fine if I'd been caught. I slowed down and looked him in the eye while giving him the good-ole-bird. It took me a solid 15 minutes to calm down over that one...I actually thought we were going to eat it.

Anyway, I hope it all goes well and isn't too much of a hassle to get things fixed up and back on the road bud.

They should make accidents like basketball fouls. You get 6 fouls in your life then you're off the road for good. And an accident while texting, doing makeup, messing with a laptop or a kid in a passenger seat counts as a technical foul. Two of those and you're done. Maybe that would help. And if you're caught driving after you've been "fouled out" you're forced to become a crash test dummy.
