I usually manage 22/23 mpg. My commute to work and back is 50mph and 40mph zone, 20 miles round trip. 5th gear at 1600rpm is the sweet spot.

Just have to keep it clean, inside and out.

My commuter car now is a Volt though, so I'm currently getting over 100MPGe . 2,000 miles traveled, 5.5 gallons of fuel burned. Costs me about .65 per day to charge it, and my round trip to work is 33 miles. I get to charge at work though on their time, so it really only costs me about 32 cents per day to go to work.
I actually really like the volts, the styling is cool/futuristic and you never see them. I see prius's everywhere. However, at the chevy dealership I remember the guy saying they were around 50 grand. I jaw dropped. How long would it take you to make the money back versus a $20k 4 cylinder that gets 30-35mpg? I'd guess a decade or more of heavy driving

And yes i drive like a maniac. Most days I romp on it through 1st and 2nd, only once or twice. However some days, like a couple days ago, I romped on it a lot more than that. I've gone 80 miles after ~7 gallons, so about 11.5 mpg aggressive city driving. Probably more like 14-15 if I drive like a grandma.. in that case i'd rather trade my gas guzzler in for a Civic Si.

I plan to use seafoam and injector cleaner sometime soon. Also take off and clean my TB... want her running good

How are you guys only getting 19-22 mpg? I consistantly get 26-30mpg running 80-85 mph in my 08 GT.

Yeah I get 30+ mpg & that's averaging 100 mph.

Really though you have to ask the question. If gas is expensive enough now that you're penny pinching, what are you going to do after the election when gas climbs back up to $5 a gallon?

I toss the BS towel on that. Unless, of course, you're relying soley on the onboard, in which case your entire premise about your outstanding fuel mileage is void and you should have a colonoscopy done on your head.

I just go by the on board computer usually. I know it "shoots high", but really what is the point in obsessing over it? I'll just get irritated in the end, so I like to suspend disbelief as much as possible. This is especially crucial in my Titan pickup truck.

Well, you tell me, just drove from Orlando, FLA to Myrtle Beach, SC and we went 407 miles and put 15.4 gallons in it. And we ran 75-90 mph the entire way. A few months ago coming from Charlotte, NC to Orlando,FLA I went 418 miles and put 15.3 gal.in it and running with cruise set at 80 all the way. so You do the math.

Might have something to do with only mods are K&N CAI and muffler deletes and 3.31 rear gears also.

I hand calculate and average around 18.5 MPG with mixed suburban city driving. I'm lightly modded but lost minimal MPG from them. That's just been the way with my mustang since I purchased.

I coast A LOT when I can. As long as I keep up or ahead of traffic, I see no point to step on the gas all the way to the red light just to slam on the brakes.

I hardly ever get the chance to drive aggressive anymore just to have some fun. People here in Indiana are either 110% retarded or have no *****. Traffic is always tied up or you have someone always doing something dumb.

Lots of people are feeling the gas pinch. If worse comes to worse OP, you might just have to think about getting a much more efficient car in the long run.

Mine was 37k before the federal rebate of 7500. Had 25 miles.
