Diabolical apparently has this mod according to his sig but didnt mention it in this thread and just told me to keep hitting the rev limiter until i need to buy a crate engine. why?, i dont know. a useless comment there when he could have easily helped.

Wonder if he had this mod when he posted here.. Could have contributed to this thread greatly.

anyway how do you like the MSD rev limiter diabolical? any tips for it?

I would have bought this 8 months ago if it was suggested here.

Will report back when i have it installed. it hasnt arrived yet.

After you get it installed, don't use it as an excuse for not learning tighter throttle control. Don't teach yourself to get sloppy with your right foot.

If you watch youtube videos, imports use these to have backfire wars. Dumping fuel into a hot exhaust makes for some nasty explosions...

If you ask me, it appears you still plan on holding down your brake pedal along with the two step, are you worried about the stress on your rear brakes and drivetrain?

Everyone I know uses a line lock specifically for burnouts since it locks the front brakes only and much less shock on your car. I have no line lock, just the old fashioned clutch dump/brake hold but I feather the throttle in 2nd gear and keep it at 6k with no issues. No need to redline a car for burnouts with this much torque.

No i never hold down the brake pedal, i only do rolling burnouts, and not really often at all. I just hate hitting the current limiter and losing all power if i ever do spin the tires too much too fast or dont shift soon enough. and yea 2 steps do sound awesome

who are you trying to impress with burnouts? Seems kind of a waste of time and money (tires)... I can do them all day long in my automatic without any fancy doodads to help.

As Norm stated, don't use a different type of nanny as an excuse not to learn the proper way to do things.

Its called having fun. I am hoping I can just get the tires spinning to 70 mph in 2nd at about 10 mph and bounce off the limiter until im at like 40 mph if i feel like it. That or go full throttle in 2nd and break the tires loose to redline and hold red line til i hit the maximum MPH for that gear..

It should be fun if it works how im hoping. You cant do some of that in an auto. Also you wouldnt know about hitting the rev limiter in your auto since it shifts for you. If i hold a gear slightly too long, or spin the tires too much too fast in my 5.0 currently it cuts the fuel and power for like a full second like ive explained. Sucks having to watch the rev limiter while the tires are spinning and your going 40-50 mph..

i love taking off to about 20 mph in 1st then going wide open throttle breaking the tires loose, hitting 2nd gear before i hit the limiter then just let the engine keep those wheels spinning as long as possible. sometimes it hits the limiter in 2nd gear too fast. Ive tried switching to 3rd but that didnt work, the engine lugged down since the shift took a bit too long and 3rd is a pretty high gear to be spinning the wheels in with a stock 3.31 geared 5.0 with a stock engine.

It's called 'hooning'. Not exactly a compliment. Definitely not a useful skill.

I am wondering if staying on the rev limiter with this type of limiter would be bad for my catalytic converters. anyone have thoughts on that?

personally id rather my tires have optimal grip, not break loose going 70 down the interstate

do that and

as to the rev limiter while doing burn outs, you really just need to learn the throttle, keep it under the limiter but enough to keep the wheels spinning
