Default Help With MAF

So im new to this forum, and would like some help with my mustang.
Background on car. 2008 Bullitt, Vortech Supercharger, 60lbs Fuel Injectors, Ford Racing Throttle Body, Long Tube Headers, Thumper Cams.

So i recently had the cams/headers/throttle body put on and took it to Racer Edge Tuning in Downey, CA. A place which has really high reviews. Well when the car was getting tuned, the computer was reading 0.00 on the mass air flow section. So he applied the tune anyways and the car sounded great and ran great, but still reading 0.00, so he completely took off the sensor while the car was on, and didnt effect the car at all. Im not to sure what was supposed to happen but he said it should of started running ****ty or turn off. He also checked the fuses and said they were god also.

Any help would be awesome!!!!!

the car can run without a MAF sensor, it would use the a base map/reading and drive on that...but u wouldn't be able to get the power u want and u risk detonation and allot more stuff! when my MAF was spoiled on my supercharged stang 01 i disconnected it and drove for a few weeks till i received the new one...

Do you have a scanner or aeroforce gauge that will let you see the fuel trims or MAF values? If the MAF sensor is dead, then your fuel trims will all be zero.

I'm not sure if it will die when you unplug the MAF, but if you start it with it unplugged, then plug it in while running, it will die. I do not recommend do that though.

The vortech kit does'nt require you to extend the MAF sensor wires, right? You need a voltmeter and check for power.

No codes? Mine idled pretty good with the sensor unplugged. Unless you have a broken wire, I think it's a failed sensor.

If its a 4 wire sensor like the V6’s, it is fairly simple to test with a volt-meter. One constant 12 volt feed, one constant ground, one signal power and one signal ground. Check out my write up on how to test a MAF sensor with a volt-meter: https://mustangforums.com/forum/8109469-post5.html. Its for a V6, but it should apply to any 4 wire MAF. The color’s of the wires may be different though. Good luck...
