Default Squeaking whining something

Ok i have been reading a lot of thread on a lot of forums and I can't find the exact answers to my questions. hopefully yall can help.

My car whines and squeaks. it is coming from up front. I am fairly sure it has to do with the belt, idler pulley or tensioner pulley. I have a 2005 mustang gt. It drives me insane listening to it and it is so embarassing. Is my idler pulley ribbed or smooth? what would u all say I need to replace? I had a guy from a shop show me that when u pour a little cup full of water down onto the belt, it goes away for a few seconds to a couple minutes. IDK if that helps any. thx for a speedy response.

OP,

It's impossible to just assume which pulley, idler, etc., is loose from just a description. The best thing to do is take the belt off and spin each one by hand. You should be able to get a few squeaks out or feel a resistance when spinning the bad pulley. Also, hows the condition of the belt? A worn out accessory belt can cause squeaks, too!

I have an idler wheel that dosnt last long before it starts to squeak, when car is 1st started, because its behind the SC & mounted to engine block and gets hot. PIA to change.

If water will make the squeak go away, then the problem is the belt. Try a Gatorback belt. Worked for me.

^^ that's promising. I'll change belt. See if it squeaks. If it does ill replace a pulley.
