Default Front Sway bar end links w/ coilover install

So I was installing my BC racing coilovers last night, and came across some problems with the sway bar end links.

I'm a bit of a suspension noob, but I don't recall running into this problem with my Tokico struts.

Basically, when it came time to mount up the struts, the end link wouldn't go into the mounting hole. The end link was at a weird angle, and woulnd't go.

Now that I think about it, maybe the other side of the car should have been unbolted to?

I had to lower the coilover as low as it would go to get the end link to go in and bolt up properly.

help?
