Thats all fine and dandy, but our S197s are not wired like Daniel shows.

The S197 gets its lighting power for the high beam headlights from the
BEC located under the hood, and the power for the low beams from the
SJB, not the headlight switch like times gone by.

Also watch out for 'some cars have dashboard-mounted indicators to tell the driver when a headlamp has burned out. The function of such devices can be disrupted by the installation of headlamp relays. '

The real point about the relay harness is the 14 ga wire from the battery through two 30 amp relays (low/high beam) that now connect to the headlights. The OEM wire is much thinner, 22 ga I believe. Thicker wire enables the headlights to operate at the full 55/65w halogen specification.

The fur is flying tonight...

I'm all about functional; hence the 4100K headlights and 2500K foglights. It seems the younger drivers are more interested in "looking pretty" but this may stem from 1) a lack of knowledge on how vision works and 2) lack of perspective simply from not experiencing driving under horrendous conditions with 5000K+ lamps vs 2500k-3000K lamps. And there are those that you can't convince, those that you can and those that don't give a ratz azz.

4100K is about as high a color temp I'd consider reasonable for night time lighting.

after I tinted my fog lamps selective yellow, I found it interesting that things they illuminated at a distance still looked like I was throwing white light at them.

Yeah, I just came off of a flame war with one of those "IDGAF" types on another car forum, and I let it bleed over to here. Sorry about the dust-up.

Sorry that I didn't respond sooner!

We now have a "Research" section on our website that is a very helpful learning tool for people wanting to know more about lighting technology: http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/research.html

Also, I can speak from personal experience that our HID conversion kits work great in Mustangs of all years. I have our 6000K HID conversion kit installed in my 2007 GT, w/GT500 front end conversion and the increase in usable light output is terrific. Definitely a functional and cosmetic appearance upgrade.

If you ever have questions about lighting, feel free to call us: (314) 205-3033

Thanks!

In my '06 GT I had Silverstar Ultras and they were an improvement. Only downside with Silverstars is they don't last as long as stock halogens. Then I stepped up to HID, I'll never go back. Unbelievable improvement.

The real point is that 65 watts at 12Volts is 5 amps.
At 13.8Volts, it is 4.7 amps.
Well within the amperage range for the 20 gage wiring that Ford uses.
14 gage wire is good for 15 amps and is very overkill for the fogs..
