After taking a PICTURE! and doing a little research, I believe it's called the electronic chassis control module. the part that says tyco is not a seperate piece, it's all one piece as far as I can tell. I didn't take the cover off the tyco part, didn't look like a good idea. i found a lot of used ones by searching the kit part number, $85, but they were off of 2005-2006 mustangs.

There's a picture of it in this auction, yours might have a different part number. The tyco thing is just a connector and I doubt they are charging $800 for that. Most likely that's for the whole module.

 

looks like the smart junction box? I think it will need programmed unless you find one with the exact same code suffixes- even then think some radios need programmed for theft prevention...maybe check with kevin casey over at themustangsource.com forums- he works at a dealer and is really into the parts research/help

how did your friend jump it wrong? leads backwards on the battery? any chance its just a fusible link or a maxifuse under the hood?

 

Even if you do it properly, it's not a good idea these days to use one car to jump start another car. Back in the day it was fine, but now the electronics of both the jumper and the jumpee cars can be damaged by voltage spikes. It might not show up as an immediate catastrophic failure, but the electrical system can be weakened. An exception to this is a "smart" jumper cable that is in two pieces and connects in the middle. If it detects the cables are backwards, it won't complete the connection. It also has a device to damp any voltage spikes. I looked into this awhile back. At that time, the only cable I could find was made by Michelin, but it was only 12 feet long--way too short IMO.

The best way to jump start a car is by using a jump start device. You still have to be careful to connect the polarities correctly and to connect the negative cable to ground, not to the battery terminal. At least it won't produce voltage spikes if you use it properly.

 

I agree with those saying try a junk yard. That has to be plenty of wrecked mustangs in there where this box was not destroyed.
