Default A Lesson Learned

I thought I would paint my muffler cans black because they are round and hang below the bumper slightly, I used a high beat satin black enamel paint. I painted them on the car and in the garage to avoid any wind so I never put any cover over the car, Well the car was covered in a fine sandpaper type dust, felt like over spray but its not. Well I had to wash a and wax the car and got it all off I think. What a PITA.
But the mufflers look great from the back now!
Thought I would share!!

Try Meguiars clay or most any type of clay product for any remaining stuff.

I take it you didn't cover the car at all when spray painting? Always a good idea to cover the entire care when spraying paint near it. You'd be surprised how far the aerosol can spread in a 'no wind' environment.

Yes, next time for sure, It all came off with a mild scratch rubbing compound and then a red wax. All good now. Thanks

A fine dust would be considered over spray, lol.

This. If you are ever painting, cover everything within a 30ft radius of where you are painting. If you are using an HVLP gun (and with how cheap you can get a decent on and a compressor, if you do ANY amount of painting it's worth it) cover everything in a 50ft radius, or preferably make a makeshift booth around what you are painting.

Bastards at my workplace decided to HVLP spray a truck white and not tell anyone to move their cars before they did. I had white overspray over the entirety of my black car. Took 4 hours of straight claybar to get it all off.

I've made that same mistake in my garage painting some wheels. That fine dust gets everywhere when there is no wind. Lol
