3.73 right now and will stay there. No the original pump with the Vortech kit I'm told will work but I'm using 2 pumps now. One in the tank and an electric under the hood. Don't spend the money for T trim blower. You can get 14psi from the S trim if you go to the 10 ribbed belt. The 2005 block with bridles they say will take 900hp but after that they tend to crack. I'm told you need a 2002 or 2003 block which is about 20lbs heavier, don't know that for sure just what I'm told.

The plan is 700 safe HP at the end of the day. A fun street car that I can drive 100s of miles at a time if I decide to.

The wait is over

Ok guys lots to tell you. The car was down 12 weeks. Broke down three times but we have all the problems solved and the cars runs great. I will tell you what we ended up doing but first I found a new 2005 GT40 for $160,000 in Kansas and flew there last week to get a piece of history. After driving the car which was screaming Yellow and black like mine it was a huge disappointment. My Mustang GT would walk away from this with no problem so were not messing with the GT40's.

Ok ended up. Don't believe anything Vortech tells you and I'm not kidding from HP to boost to what fits what. We got mislead on so many parts and Vortech had a tech. guy talking to my pro shop about what they were doing and seeing to help with their R&D program. No kidding!

With that said to break 600hp you have to go to forged and make it a stroker which we are at 9.1 ratio. Make sure you put a bridle on the block it will save it over the long haul.
That covers the bottom end and make sure its balanced. You will need to get the Pro 3 valve heads and have the intake ported to match. If you don't do this about 450rwhp will be you're limit before you float the valve train which isn't bad. If you have an S trim blower about 10-12lbs is all you will get no matter what you do so we upgraded to the T trim which bolts in the same place. Vortech sells a 10 ribbed pulley and belt kit but you will find you will be shredding belts. You have to machine the lip off of the back of the water pump pulley and change the belt tensioner to the one off of the Lighting pickup. Broke mine so make sure you do it. Only $45.00. Now with the T trim you will be at 14-16lbs of boost and even with the 255 fuel pump you will be lean. Need to add a boost a pump and you will find you will blow out the spark also so a boost a spark is also needed. Remember to cut and regap the plugs to 32. Now you will find the car will keep wanting to go to safe mode we found this was because the blown was shaking the butter fly's and the motor that runs the throttle body was to weak. Went to and I will look up the brand but NOT BBK 62mm throttle body. You will also need the mass air flow extender from Vortech and set it on 2. Now this is taking it for granted you purchased the Vortech complete kit with injectors and the predator tuner.

What did we end up? 650rwhp and a as fun as it gets. Be ready for a long wait but its worth it. At 40mph you can slam the accelerator down and turn the car side ways that's worth every penny. Nothing but fun

Good luck guys.

get info john.. you have been in the fore front of it all.. I wish I had the funds to keep up. haha.. I will be adding a lower pully 12# to my 05 too soon and try to get 500-510rwhp and no more. try to set the rpm limit to 6400 and pray nothing happens. Do you think the stock block can handle that? I have installed hte HTO /KB BAP / and will install the maf extender with the pully next week. I'm hope if I limit the power and rpm and give it fuel things might not be bad...I hope.. haha

Why do you have GT350 stickers and Boss emblems? Just curious. Nice numbers

I agree with most of what you said airfoil but your shop is wrong about the vortech and what it can handle. You are also going to find that you are going to need more than a boost spark - you are going to need a dual pump system. Vortech lies their butts off and tries to make you buy the pulley upgrade kits cause they cost almost $500 - but I am running a 3.33 pulley on the 6 rib system just fine and making 520 rwhp with 14 lbs of boost on the s-trim with no problems. Yes, we had a problem at first with the stupid vortech belts and solved the problem by using two stock tension pulleys to tighten the belt down. (for those that don't know the tension pulleys are slightly larger than the other). Using this set-up, we were able to hold down the 6 rib belt that came with the H/O s-trim kit. My problem now lies with fuel and getting more of it. My shop is trying to fab a dual return system cause nobody has one yet. Even with 60 lbs injectors and fuel rails, you need a dual pump system. I would like to see your dyno chart and specifically your a/f. Not that I'm calling BS, only becasause it may help me out with my problem. I also keep blowing the fuel pump fuse (#15) in the fuse box because I have to set my KB boost-a-pump on max and it blows the fuse every 3-4 passes. I'm going to try on Monday to re-do the boostapump on a dedicated fuse. But I am VERY impressed and happy with the stock bottom end is holding up to.

Also - have you looked into Vortechs upgraded water pump? You have to relocate the battery but it is worth it. It allows you to dump about 3 lbs of ice right into it before your pass and helps supercool the intercooler. It also keeps A LOT more water in the overflow so it keeps your intercooler colder even with street driving. I have only been taking the chances cause I have a 302 stroker going in soon so I am seeing what it can handle but I have to say if you can keep the vortech cool, the bottom end is handling a lot more than I thought it could.

Like I said, I am really interested in how you are getting fuel with that HP on the #39 injectors and stock fuel rails. I have close to the same set-up (minus the t-trim) and I am maxing out at 520 before I starve for fuel. I did not try the boost spark - does it really make THAT much of a difference getting fuel down?

damn you rock chevykiller.. haha.. that 302 stroker that your getting built.. sicne you priced most of the stuff.. how much do you think it will cost to just forge the insides jsut enough to stay smoge legal and the cheapest route? I kind of looking for the budget version of airfoil goal. but only 600-700hp. The procharger is said to be good to 800hp..heheh.. if the stock block is good for 900-1000hp.. then all I have to do is the pistons/rings/ valves and what else? and how much. This is what I get for Fing around in auto shop.. hell they has is work on a 1983 Le CAR!!! pos
