Default Headlight conversion question

Hi guys and gals,
New member here. I have a 2008 GT with the factory HIDs and want to change to halogen or LED. Cost of $1200/side is more than the car is worth for the factory replacements! Need to change out the whole unit, housings and lenses as the old ones are just done in.
I'm sure someone here has the 411 on what is involved, internet search has not yielded specifics.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't know what the factory HIDs did with the electrical, but $2400 total is way out of line in price.
I'd call up the guys at American muscle and see what they can hook you up with, the whole housing kit from them is somewhere between $200 and $500 for a full set of aftermarket housings/lights.

I can get halogen assemblies on FB Marketplace for $50 bucks, and up.... There is a NEW
set, with all chrome inside for $60.00 on there right now. PLENTY if used ones too, in the
same price range.

If using LED, I would keep your HID housings, and use the LEDs in those. The issue
will be the low-beam, you'll need an adapter or LEDs with the same socket type. Using
LEDs in a reflector housing SUCKS.

So if I go projector, is it a plug and play swap from HID, or will I have to change wiring/harnesses to accommodate?
Again, reason for wanting to change out is the original lenses are toast, so I'm looking at a complete replacement of the units.
