Default 8500 rpm ?

2011 GT 5.0 auto with intake, TB, headers, BAMA box tune, 3.55 gears.
I recently talked my cousin into dumping his BAMA box tune in favor of a dyno tune. After the dyno tuning he took it for a ride and complained it was shifting at 7500 rpm and not at 8500rpm that the BAMA was shifting at.
I cant imagine a stock cammed V8 being tuned to shift at 8500.
Do these stock motors shift at 8500?

With a Cobra intake, matching TB, Kooks 1³/⁴ inch full long tubes it made 378 whp at 6500 and 334 wtq at 4750rpm.
Not a Mustang duno.
It was still making power at 6500 so Why the tuner shut down at 6500 I dont know.
Is this what to expect from these mods?

Thanks much

8500 RPM is doable for a while, maybe a few minutes but I don't believe a stock valve train and lower end is built for that.

The Cobra Jet intake makes power up to 7750rpm so I'd set the rev limiter there.
8500rpm on the stock valvetrain is a pipe dream.

Taking a fairly stock valve train to 8500 rpm on a regular basis is a good way to float a valve and make your valves kiss the pistons.

This ain't not Honda Vtec motor yo!
