Do not get the shaker 1000, even at dealer cost the money could be much better spent on an aftermarket subwoofer.

And at 16 I would 2nd the recommendation to go for a V6 'vert over a GT. Nobody "needs" 300 hp, as much fun as it may seem to be.

Have you actually called your insurance agent and asked about the priceincrease for a GT over a V6?
I think that that info alone may well make up your mind for you

I think all these guys are giving you great advise. I just bought my 17 year old daughter a 2006 Ford Focus.
Take the V6 Pony Package but don't get the Shaker 1000. Someday when you are a more experienced driver, you can trade or sell it for a GT......that's IF it's still in one piece.

I have a friend with your setup that runs as fast as my auto GT did stock (9.4 1/8 mile)

He has:

CAI -- $300
Tuner -- $400
3.73 Gears -- $250
Traction Locker -- $250
Exhaust -- $400
Total -- $1650 ish

Course, it's the coolest V6 in town.
Sorry but a V6 with those mods still won't touch a GT.........unless it's a driver issue.

I would get the base GT. It's a much faster car and handles better.
Who cares.....you can only go so fast on the road anyway! Remember he is only 16! Besides, how do you know how the V6 handles?

no problem with a V6. look at my car, i put the GT kit on, and many other items, and I have over 350hp and installing a nitrous kit for well over 400 hp in a few weeks.
