Default tough decision

Let me start this by saying that I am 16 yrs. old and extremely lucky to get an oppurtunity like this:

My grandpa is a personal friend of the local ford dealer, so he can get me a new mustang for a large discount. I can either get a v6 premium fully loaded: leather seats, shaker 1000, pony package, ect.

Or I can get a v8 completely base: fabric seats, single cd, ect.

So which one should I choose?
Keep in mind this would be my first car and my dad thinks I would die with 300 horses.

Go for the V6. Maybe even try for a vert. The GT is great, but I don't think it makes a very good "first car."

No reason to feel like a dumbass. I'm just thinking at 16, the v6 might be a better choice. But to make up for it, maybe try to get yourself in a convertible. It will be just as cool, all your friends will love it and it will get you just as many girls. It's probably going to be a lot cheaper to insure as well.

Either way, be careful. A lot of people wreck their first cars, and the V6 is still a lot of car for a new driver. Still, I would have loved to have had a sweet car like that when I was in high school, so I'm going to say go for it.

For a 16 year old, even though your insurance on a Pony will be outrageous, it will be a little less for the V6. We have a V6 pony pkg Stang, and it's perfectly fine for us. Go for the 6, bro.

Yep, agree, go with the V6. Get some time under your belt and later down the road you can always get a V8. And you'll probably catch flack from friends for going with a V6 vs V8, but don't listen to them. Most of it will be jealousy anyway and you're doing this for yourself and not them. The girls won't care either way, they're just looking for a cool car. [sm=smiley20.gif]

If you are going to have to pay for anything like montly payments, gas, or insurance I would definetly go with the V6. Insurance would double from a V6 to a GT just because of your age. Monthly payments would be way more, and you would have to pay more for gas with the V8. With all the money you save by going with the V6 you could eaisly make it just as fast as the GT. Go with the V6.
