These guys made really good points about going with the V6 for a 16 year old.

Get the V6 - it's got all the power you'll need (twice what I had at 16) and chicks dig leather.

The first time you lay the throttle down on the GT you'll never want a stock 6er again IMO. =p

It's just... so much... better... (Unless you plan on heavily modding that V6 you'll never touch a GT)

thats what im thinking, cause if i go with a v6 i get nice interior, sound ect. but i can still add horses later. how much $$$ would it take to get the v6 up to gt power?

I have a friend with your setup that runs as fast as my auto GT did stock (9.4 1/8 mile)

He has:

CAI -- $300
Tuner -- $400
3.73 Gears -- $250
Traction Locker -- $250
Exhaust -- $400
Total -- $1650 ish

Course, it's the coolest V6 in town.

that seems pretty doable in the future. i guess my grandpa can get a mustang cheap because he bought one of the first ford GTs from the local dealer, plus hes friends with the owner.

Yah... The big thing is for the V6 you're gonna spend much more to get the same gains.

I run 8.6 now with just my current mods.

i was in pretty much the same situation with you in picking a car, and my dad said the exact same thing (but he still says it aboutt he v6 now lol...he probbaly just doesnt like the fact that i am driving w/o him in the car)

as i mentioned, i went with the v6 fully loaded, and it is a very nice car

its a given that 1/2 of your male friends are gunna say something like "man you should have got the v8" but trust me, the loaded v6 is a very good drive.

plus...what are we gunna use 300hp for if we dont go to a track?
you will still be able to take any ricer

edit: btw i am 17 sucka! haha just kidding, we are some of the "youthful few" compared to the general population here

i'm 16 too, and i'm paying for my car (for those of you who like to pick on young kids and call them spoiled)- i got the v6 because of insurance... and you'll still "want" a v8, but its not worth it for a kid like us, they're all right. You'll be better off with a 6. Thats plenty fast for us. i dont know if you could GET insurance on the GT even if it is bone stock, its new- and its a v8 sports car. No ones gonna want to cover you, and if they do your car payments will be too much to pay

stick with the 6
