Viking's advice is right on. You can't go wrong with the FORD ESP.

I had an '02 Explorer that ended up with a bunch of problems at 70k. The warranty from Ford covered everything. The dealer I took it too was not the dealer I purchased the vehicle from. No problems getting it fixed.

I used warrantydirect.com for my old '01 Mustang and for my old '00 Grand Am. I have their extended warranty for my '06 Mustang. They offered a bumper-to-bumper, 6/60,000 for 1127.00 ($50.00 deductible) with extra coverage for certain emission parts. No problems with them at all.

Agree, they're asking way too much. I went through Ford 7 year/85,000 for $1500. As mentioned above, one tranny within 7 years and whatever else, $1500 is chump change.

Thanks for all of the advice. I did NOT buy the rip-off warrantee plan that the dealer was trying to sell me. I didnt buy anything at all, not even the $550 scotch guard protection and 'special' wax job!

So whats the best way to buy a ford extended plan? online?, direct from ford?, thru my dealer? And when do I need to make this decision, will they still offer me a plan 6 months from now?

Thanks a lot.

Interesting information on the warranty. I have another question since you are directly involved with a Ford dealership. Do you take x-plan orders on the GT? It looks like other posters as saying some are some aren't. Is this a Ford Corp decision or is it the dealerships that decide?
Thanks
Greg

About the x plan. It is the dealerships decision. i know because i got completely screwed. i asked the dealership about it and they said Ford does not offer it. then two days later i heard that they do. so i called a two different dealers to find out. they both did and said it is up to the dealer on whether or not they offer it. then to make it worse i called the dealer i bought the car from and asked them. they said they have no problem with offering it. Once i told them i already bought a car from them they started changing their story. i wouldn't have got so pissed if they told me that their dealership doesn't offer it. Instead they told me that Ford doesn't offer it. I'm still fighting them on it. So yes ford offers it but it is the dealerships choice on whether or not they participate. All i know is that dealership will NEVER see business from me again.

That sucks, I know someone who says he knows someone at a local dealership so I will ask first about the x-plan. The employees I guess get a new set the first of the year so maybe I can find someone to give me a pin number. I just saw Overhaulin work over a 05 Black GT for this girl. What a sweet ride. Put a S/C in it with all the goodies. I'm so jealous it made me want one now!
