Default Anti theft system problem (I think)

I had a strange occurrence tonight when I tried to start my 05 GT auto. I don’t know what I did but the car would not start. It was going click click click…. The lights did not work and every time I turned the key, the lights went crazy (flashing) in the dash. There was an Anti theft light flashing.

At first, I figured the battery was dead. The car is parked in the garage for the winter. I tried to start it with the battery of my pickup truck but it did the same thing.

I think the problem was with my anti theft system and the car key. I used my second set of keys. I locked and unlocked the doors and put the key in. The car started perfectly. It also works with the other set now…

I don’t know what I did to cause the problem but I'd like to find out.

Any ideas?

Have the same problem with my '06. I had the car back at the dealer one week after it was delivered to me. According to them, and I take this with a grain of salt, it has something to passive theft deterrent system. The service rep told me that my keys (and I do have a lot of them) are somehow interferring with the passive anti-theft system and in essence shorting it out. He told me to make sure my keys are away from the ignition switch when I start the car. Actually it seems to be working.
