Has the mustang always had the Limited Slip on the V8's? Does it help in the corners?

Limited slip is good on all dry roads, wether going straight or in the twist. The nature of it is it will allow for the wheels to turn at different speeds once torque gets so high. In the twistys you get the benifit of having both wheels pulling and so you don't end up with the inside wheel lifting and spinning (open diffs do this). Due to the ability of the LSD to allow the wheels to slip a little you also never have a siuation when you drag a wheel due to wheel speed differences when turning (true lockers do this). Downside to any type of traction aid is lateral stability on slippery roads. You want one wheel non powered on slippery roads to maintain side to side traction. Two spinning wheels on ice=back end coming around. Our TCS tries to correct this by keeping the wheels from spinning loose by applying the brake slightly to the spinning wheel.

sounds like a solid system, does the TCS limit the torque on dry roads during a turn? Anyone push the Stang to the limit in corners? Man, i wonder how much the TCS system restrics wheel slipage because in my current car the absolute limit is when the tires are squealing like a piglet. [:-]

So is the 05+ the first year with an Limited Slip Diff?

UHH....Traction Control should be off unless the roads are slippery (rain, snow, ice) The only time it works is if wheel spin is sensed. It works two-fold: It softly applies brake to spinning wheel, it limits RPM/torque to keep the other wheel from spinning. I CAN NOT POWER BRAKE THIS CAR WITH THE TC ON. I can power brake it mightily with the TC off.
