Default anyone familiar with catted vs non catted?

I'm going to get Magnapacks catback, and want to go with an X pipes...

I know i'll get more power by going o/r x (non catted).. but what other differences are there?

and what's the difference in sounds, will it be a deeper sound with being catted?

thanks..

btwe, I picked up my car yesterday:

I'll make an easy comparison for you -

Go to your local 7-Eleven (or whatever) and grab a coffe straw and blow your hardest through it. Then grab a regular soda straw and blow just as hard through that.

Coffee straw= cats
Soda straw = no cats

Unfortunately you do get loud when you drop the cats so it's not a move for everyone. The high flows are REALLY good and let the car breathe pretty well. The truth is you will not notice that much of a difference between the high flows and no cats. Yes, there is some but not significant enough to make it a must do. Another big factor is what kind of fuel you want to run. Cats have your downstream 02 sensors so you can't run high octane (VP110+) without frying them and sending your car into failsafe. Just keep that in mind if you keep cats and stay with 108 octane and below.

[sm=exactly.gif]!!!!!!!!!!!

You may try the headers, catted X, and just keep the stock cans. That's what I am going to do. Other members here have said that the result sounds real good.

No cats or more free flowing cats will give you less backpressure and therefore let the engine breath a little better. I have Bassani's comp cats and love them. When I first installed them though they made my car go a little lean and trip the CEL. I added a CAI and tuned it all together and was able to make some good power numbers.
P.S.
The car looks great, good luck with it!

+1 - It is loud but a GOOD loud. Here is a clip of my car on the track to get an idea of what the set-up sounds like...

i have hooker l/t's and no cats stock mufflers. i love the sound. i remember reading a test MM&FF did with bassani catted xpipe shorty headers and axle backs. they picked up a whopping 14hp with all that stuff. i don't think the stock cats flow that bad as with the rest of the exhaust. i took mine off so i could use the stock h-pipe with my l/t's. if they would work properly in that location i would have put them back on. maybe not they weigh about 15lbs so on second thought they stay off forever.
