Honeslty if it was me looking to buy an exhaust system I would wait. because all I have heard as far as V6 exhausts just turn your car exhaust sound into some riced out tuner sound. I have not heard an exhaust that gives you a deep sound that sounds american, the only closest one is the new Roush exhaust or the Stainless Works.

I am not looking for a GT sound, because I would get a GT if I wanted to have the 'GT' sound. I got the V6, and the stock exhaust sounds good, and I don'y want the rice sound. That is just my opinion though folks, please don't get offended by it.

I can't give personal experience based on the performance aspect of catback v axleback... though, the general consensus is negligible gain or no gain... especially since stock = X-pipe. On sound, I've only heard the Roush and Magnaflow (street series) cat backs... they sound similar with a low burble, get decently loud at WOT, and they don't have any 'noticeable' drone... the 'blow-throughs' will sound louder, however, they tend to have drone @2k rpm, and aren't street legal in all states.

When opening up the exhaust on the new V6, I sincerely doubt you will ever end up with a deeper or more American sound. These are motors that make a lot of power, all on the top end.

Just look at the '11 5.0. Gobs of power up top, and opening up the exhaust with headers and an x-pipe makes it sound like an exotic V8/10/12. I think the days of the deep American rumble are in the past, at least from Ford. And I don't mean that in a negative way.

I agree, the new engines on mustangs are of a completely different design so they are bound to sound different than what they used to.
