I mentioned that the 2010+ Mustangs stock airbox is more efficient than the (05-09) model. I know a guy that has a 2011 mustang V6 and had his car dynoed with and without the CAI and the difference was very minimal, only 1 or 2 HP increase.

I am not going to argue that point about the Tune producing more power then a CAI by its self, but I would be surprised if all CAIs are equal just like I would be surprised if all tunes were equal. Some CAIs will flow more than others and some will provided cooler air then others. I think the details and the engineering behind them can make a difference.

Hey dude I stumbled across this thread and thought I would write in and let you know my experience with CAI. I went with a CAI tuner combo from dallas mustang it was like 550 after tax. I highly recommend buying the tuner with the CAI. Some people say you don't need it. I will let you know, My CEL came on and the code was for a lean mix (too much air). The tune itself is worth the money.

Now about power. We are talking advertised gains of 10-25 RWHP. This might be a stretch. I don't know. The reason I don't know is because I don't care. All of these bolt on parts will produce minimal horsepower. Not to say naturally aspirated motors aren't great, I'm just saying, CAI is more like a good starting point for someone on a budget.

Here's what I noticed. Better throttle response. Hands down, after the tune, my car is running great (i use a 93 octane tune). I can really feel it in the 2500-4000 range. It's a noticeable difference. It's nice, and the tuner is versatile, so it's a good investment for future mods.

the first mod i did was a CAI and tuner and i could really tell a difference, im sure most of it was the tuner but the CAI makes the exhaust louder (i think at least) and throttle response is the biggest increase. I also absolutely love the sound the CAI makes when you step on the gas or shut off the car, but my MPG did go up also. This may just be little things to you but i recommend the tuner definetly, but i also love my CAI. If i were to do it all over again i would get the gears and tuner first, and wait on the CAI but i would still definetly get it.
