Question If you have 2013 V6/auto/stock...question on RPM in 4th gear

If you have a 2013 V6/automatic and stock can you try this in your car and tell me what happens?
Using select shift get in 4th gear and around 50mph. Then floor it and watch the Tach. Mine goes up for a couple seconds and then drops about 500 rpm. Then slowly goes back up again. What's that about ? Anyone else see this?

I don't have an automatic but since no one else is chiming in and I'm curious:

Could it just be going into overdrive?

I'll try it in a few minutes on my break and get back to you.

When you are cruising with an auto, the torque convertor locks up. When you tap the gas, it should unlock and your RPMs should go up about 500 RPM. When you let off the gas a little, or when it runs out of power at higher RPM, it will lock back up. Not sure if yours is normal from your discription.

Thanks for the explanation. That appears to be what is happening. I honestly don't like this transmission because of this type of action. It seems "soft" or like it's slipping. I would like a firmer feel from the transmission. I traded my '07 stick shift GT/CS for this car and I like everything except the transmission feel.

I have the exact same car and feel the transmission could shift a bit better, that's why my next mod will be a tuner as this seems to take care of the issue once and for all. Done deal

I agree with your comment on the shift points. As soon as we get a tuner for this car were gonna have to work on the shift points. I hate them. Guess I'm used to the shift points on our 07 gt convertible. What's a good tuner? I'm thinking bama but would consider others.. We have sct on our 07.
