Brakes and traction control issues
Hi guys, I wanted to ask for your help about some issues I’m having with my car. The issues started one day I was pulling out of a traffic light, the traction control light started flashing and I felt the car pulling to one side. I was not speeding or anything, the pavement was dry at the time. The issue went away and it didn’t came back until recently. I read online that it could be a bunch of things, a bad battery wire, un even tires, a dirty or bad abs sensor and even the steering wheel rack. The other issue is kinda weird. While sitting with the car on neutral with the brakes on at a light, sometimes I feel a loud thump coming from the black, one time it was so bad I thought someone hit my bumper. I figure it might be the rear brake pistons? Another symptom I’m feeling from the car is light random taps or thumps coming from the brake pedal while standing at a light. I did notice that my car sometimes takes slightly longer to turn on, so I’m going to check this weekend for battery issues and brake problems. Thanks for your input!
For traction issues, check your tires. Old tires (more than 3-4yrs old) or tires with almost no tread will break traction easily. Old tires get harder as they age and can also dry rot (get a tone of little cracks and tears.)
for the noise issue, it could be bad motor and/or tramission mounts. Nothing except the engine is rotating when the car is at a light.

I had the similar problem in my 2011 v6. When I made sharp turn to the right my car’s right front tire locked up. Very dangerous. I turned off my traction control and came into control again. Light showing a sensor error in traction control lit up. I had to remember to turn off the traction control every time I drove till I could get an appointment with repair shop. Ended up have whole steering unit replaced. Sensor that was bad was incorporated into the steering unit. Cost over $2000.
Sounds like a bad wheel speed sensor or ABS module acting up—those can cause the traction control to freak out and give you pedal thumps. Check the sensors first, they’re cheap and common. If the battery’s weak, it can mess with the system too, so get that tested.
