more 351m help!!
someone here locally is sellin some 351c 2v heads...and i was wondering would these increase any bit of performance on my 351m?? if ne one knows or has an opinion on this (other than to get a 351w/c) lol..id appreciate it
Hate to burst your bubble but 2v C heads have a smaller chamber than a M-head. 76 versus 78 CC.The aussie heads are 2v heads. Not 4 v heads with 2v ports. They don't have 4v valves in them. M-heads also have more material in the exhaust side forthe emissions bump than a 71-72 2V C head. Please do your research before passing out bad info.
a) a 76 vs 78 cc chamber is virtually identical. straight from ford various heads with the same casting numbers are common to be a few cc's off.
b) the aussie heads everyone talks about are the closed chamber heads like the 351C 4v but with runners like the 351C 2v heads. if you really want to get techincal there were a few flavors of the aussie heads, and some DID have the smaller valves and open chambers, but those are not the heads anyone used when "upgrading" to the aussies.
c) i'd have to look in the ports to see about the the ex bump, either way anyone redoing a set of C or M heads should be cleaning those up.
now, are you going to sit here and tell me that he would gain a performance increase worth swapping heads, if any performance increase AT ALL? you could build a 2 identical motors using the 2v 351C or the 351M heads and nobody would EVER be able to tell the difference.

An "aussie" 2V head is a small valve closed chamber head with that doesn't have the smog bump in them. They do have the 4V head down under. The do have differing heads just like we do but, the ones we get stateside are the early closed chamber ones. If one wants to build a C motor then the aussies still have alotof parts that we don't get here. The only issue is that the cost to import them doesn't make them a decent value. They also pay alot more for parts there. I've driven a Falcon XBGT before. Very impressive. Boss 351, toploader, 3.00 gear. Most of ther tech that they have done is available here though. The Cleveland has been pretty much the only thing down there for years. They still have very few Windsor parts there at all. It has to be imported for the most part. Most trying to get performance out of a M would notice the difference because of the level of performance attainable on a budget.
the whole point of this thread was is a guy with 351M heads would see a bump in power from swapping his stock heads with 351C 2v heads. the answer is no. the reason is because the heads are *virtually* identical.
