Default 351 swap in progress

Alright I lost oil pressure in my 302 and i was just gonna put new barings and a oil pump in. but i decided to put the 351 windsor(1969-70) in instead. i have the windsor all ripped apart right now. it was rebuilt 3000 miles ago but sat for like 10 years. i measured the piston holes and they all were within .008". all the barings looked good. needs an oil pump and distributor. . i have ported 351 heads with 2.02/1.60 valves ( comp springs, retainers, rockers) that i had on my 302 that'll be put on. I also have hooker super comp long tube headers for the 351. I am going to use the adapter plate for my fuel injection. What i THINK I need:
~Lengthen fuel rails
~Rebalance fly wheel to 28oz
~All gaskets for rebuilding
~Oil pan
~A/c p/s adapter bracket
~Cam (see below)

I have a msd distributor for a 302. What do i need to buy to make this work on the 351? Also i don't know what to get for a cam. I would like to have a noticable cam sound with as much performance as possible. waht do you guys think? thanks, nathan

If you really have bore diameter variation of .008"
Then that motor is trash...
Time for a full rebuild.

The 302 dist won't work in the 351w.
The size of the oil pump driveshaft is larger in the 351w.

Comp cams XE would probably work...

More info on the swap if you are interested...

A 351w has a different fireing order then a 302 uffortunatly your MSD will most likely not work with this application.

a 351w has the same firing order as a 5.0 High output motor
Standard Ford 302 firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8, HO version is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. im pretty sure they changed over to the HO in 1982. Even though the 351W and the 302 have the same firing order your Dizy will not work because the 351 has a higher deck. you need a dizy off a truck with a 351W.

And the distriutor gear will depend on what cam you run. You will need an iron gear for Flat Tappet and a steel or bronze gear for a roller.
