Default what oct tune is best for everyday driving ??

I have MMR CAI and hi flow tube, Magnaflow true dual, X-cal 2. I have been using Lindo's 89 oct tune. I still have MMR 92 and 87 oct on my X-cal. Do you think its worth extra $$ in gas to change to 92 oct tune ? The 89 oct tune seems to kick *** !

If you are happy with it why change?

Typically the greater the air ratio being compressed the more likely detonation is and the safer higher octane is....

To me the extra torque and hp and response make it worthwhile the extra cash..... but it is a matter of preference....

Just remember .......don't attempt to run the 91 - 93 tune with lower octane gas.

wow that was a whole lot of nothing!!!

I only compared 87 to 93, and 93 was much better... so what does better mean? Better performance? Yes. Better fuel economy? Hard to say... some say a tuned 93 octane car gets better mileage than a tuned 87 car... how much better? Varies. If the 93 tunes has better head snap, will you end up flooring it all day, and get worse gas mileage?

Better is hard to define...

I'm running the 93 Extreme as my daily-driver tune. The only difference from the regular 93 is that the tranny shifts better (harder) in WOT situations. Everyday driving I have not seen any difference between the two tunes. Even my wife noticed how much quicker the car is now after she got behind the wheel.

For some reason, when I fill up on 87 gas, my computer tells me I have 310-320 miles until empty. When I fill up on 91 gas, my computer tells me I have 280-300 miles until empty. I don't get it.

I vary the fuel depending on what I am doing. For general driving about, I use 87 (the cheap stuff [sm=smiley1.gif] ). If I'm going to play I use 91 or 93 if I can get it. I re-tune at the pump using the XCAL2.

For everyday driving I perfer the 87 performance tune; I save the 91 torque or performance tunes for the track or playing rough around town (never street racing).
