BELT OR CLUCH SLIPPAGE ???
Hi everyone, first of all do we have drive belts or drive chains? The reason I ask is I have a 2006 stick. It’s got 12 thousand miles and I have always been able to peal out when I shifted from a 1st to 2nd if i redlined 1st. Plus some times I could chirp 3rd. Today I tried it and it sounded like the belt slipping or something was slipping all I know is it wasn’t the tire. So I filled up the tank and tried again and it slipped worse the last time. What’s up I hope I don’t need a new clutch or drive belt please help.

RE: BELT OR CLUCH SLIPPAGE ???
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like you have worn out your clutch. Never having ridden with you, I have only your post and how you describe your driving habit. Too frequent burn outs and/or hard shifting can cause accelerated wear orf glazing of the friction surface of the clutch disc, it can also destroy the fliewheel. One simple way to tell if your clutch is slipping is to floor it when you are cruising about 40mph in 4th gear. If the engine revs quickly without a corresponding increase in speed..... your clutch is toast. The 4.0 doesn't have the best clutch to begin with so it can't handle a steady diet of abuse.
There is no "drive" belt of chain, the power is transmitted to the wheels thru the drive shaft and differential.
