How to install gears and limited slip?
I have an '06 4.0L Mustang. I got some new 3.73's and a used Auburn posi for it. I have installed gears once before but it was in a Dana 35. What do I need to know to change out the gears and add a posi in the 7.5" rear end before I tear it down? Will I need any extra parts besides the gears and posi or any special tools? What fluid is best to run in it afterwards? Thanks for the help.

Plan on a normal full rear end install. You'll need a kit with shims and bearings; use silicon for the cover seal. As far as fluid, people are running pretty-much everything! I use Royal purple but have used Mobile and Amsol before too.
You'll need to be able to press on/off the pinion bearing and carrier bearings, and will need to adjust the pinion depth via pinion gear shimming. Proper tools for measuring pinion depth are needed.
For re-installing the pinion, you'll need to properly tighten and torque the pinion nut to PRE-LOAD SPECIFICATIONS.
For ring gear, since you are putting in a different carrier, you WILL need to change the carrier shimming/spacing, adjusting backlash to within specifications, requiring a dial guage.
You might be better off letting a shop install them for you professionally for a few hundred bucks. Unless you have the tools and specific know-how, it will be a lot of work.
But, good choice on gears and upgrading the carrier!

i rebuilt the rear end on my 8.8 in my F150 this year with 4.10's, I had a press, bearing pullers, etc...I did not have to use a dial gauge. it took about 16 hours spread out over 4 days because i went superSLOW... a pita, but I had too because there was not a parts source available that I could swap out a rear end.
On my stang, since there is a abundance of new take off parts for very reasonable prices, I wouldnt blink, i would just swap out the rear end
Yeah, you can do it yourself, however, why would you want to, just to save 500-700 bucks?
