A tuner mated with a CAI and set to run 93 octane at best is going to give you 15 to 20 hp and that's going to cost you an easy 500 to 700 bucks depending on which you go with for everything. So it depends on your defintion of "best". I'm not trying to talk you out of it mind you. I think everyone should do what they want with their own car. But like I told someone else on another thread. If you want to make serious gains in hp on your V6, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way. Hardware.

I think 93 octane requires the most expensive gas plus I don't think that is good for my car in the long run. I would probably set it to the mid level performance. And what exactly do you mean by hardware?

93 Octane does in fact require the most expensive gas. You want peformance, you have to pay for it. An 87 or 89 tune might net you 10 to 12 hp max and that still has to be combined with a CAI. Hardware is things like stage 3 heads, different gear ratio in the rear end, supercharger, turbocharger, etc. etc. Now all of those things will also require a tune to change the parameters of the engine to accomodate the new "hardware" but it's the hardware that makes real hp gains.

Maybe you should take a look at this.

He's right with the want of real hp it will come at the cost of money. A cai, a tune, dual exhaust, udp's are going to net you very little in the way of hp, it will make your car more fun to drive. Hp will be gained from larger displacement(as in the way of a v8), power adders (turbo, supercharger, nos), or a built motor.

Did you get the answer you wanted with this post over the
answers in your other similar post?

Stand alone CAI's are near useless. Exhaust work after the cats is near useless. If you want performance and don't want to go FI, a CAI & tune combo is the bang. You can get a stand-alone tune; even the custom 87 tune will kick azz over the stock 87 tune; but will need a revised tune when you add the CAI (and certain other mods).

Actually yes. I didn't know which forum to post it to. Also I figured by asking the same question and posting it on two different forums, that would result in having twice as many comments.

Thank you all. I will re read all of these posts and think strongly about what I want to do with my car. The reason I am even adding mods is to make my car more fun to drive. I'm not to serious about taking my car to the track to record times. (So turbo isn't neccessary) I just love driving this car and I want to make the experience even more fun.

If you are concentrating on making your car more fun to drive, I highly recommend purchasing a tuner w/ custom tunes, you will not be dissapointed!
I drove around with a stand alone CAI and Pypes single exhaust w/ out a tune for awhile and did not feel much of a difference performance wise. You can always purchase the CAI and exhaust later. Just my 2 cents.
