Default Which Tune??

2008 v6.
I want to wake it up. AM's tunes that I was looking at, the race tune suggests that daily drivers not purchase it. I'm a daily driver that isn't pleased with the performance (trading is no option, and the v6 was a gift so yeah). Race tune or performance tune? Why or why not for either one? Thanks.

I have AM/Bama's 93 Performance tune with the JLT intake. Worth every penny, I love it. Haven't tried any of the race tunes, but go for the higher octanes to get better results

Thank you. Plan on getting it sometime this week, just debating. They brag about 30hp gain. Is that just the race tune or will the performance tune get close to that also?

Look for more closer to 20hp gain.

Lots of distributors claim a lot of things. You'll be lucky to get 20 hp and thats if you combine the 93 race tune with a CAI.

HP numbers are very subjective and they don't hold a lot of value in my book. There's a lot more to being fast than HP numbers, such as things that don't show up on a dyno.

But anyway, I noticed a night and day difference from stock

To each his own I say. If hp isn't your thing I suppose you could look at like this. At best you'll shave 1/2 to 3/4 of a second off your quarter mile time with a 93 tune and a CAI. For some guys the 5 to 7 hundred dollars you pay for that is worth it and for others it isn't. It's all up to the individual.

First AM suggests you not run race tune for daily driver! They would be stupid to tell you not to buy their product! One thing is now in question after taking to a good friend in the local club! I was telling her I was going with the SCT tuner from AM because of life time tunes! She told me that yes it is true that AM offers lifetime free tunes but ONLY IF THE UPGRADES COME FROM AM! If this is true and it makes sense, I'm going elsewhere with my money!

I agree

Little OT here, but I'm just saying it's more than just HP numbers. I've see a lot of high hp cars that either can't catch traction or can't take a corner at more that 30 mph and get beat by a less powerful car because they can. You need to have a well-balanced car in terms of brakes, tires, suspension, drivetrain, engine etc etc It's what you want out of the car

The $529 I paid for my intake/tune was WELL worth it.

I agree. I watched an Exige run circles around a GT on the Top Gear test track. My Trek 1.2 road bicycle has more power than the Exige.
