Good Idea?

NEVER wipe the car off after only a touchless carwash. You are smearing around dirt and grit that was not removed (which is why you are doing it in the first place) and you WILL swirl your car up to hell. The compromise? Find a local car wash with manual power sprayers and the such. Then get your soap and bucket and grit guards up there and get to washing. It's extra work but your car will look better and be cleaner.
Good to know and sorry all for the bad advice. I've edited my original post

Go to a touchless or go to a car wash that has bays for rental if you want to wash it yourself. However be careful with the under body pressure flushes, I had one rip the radiator cover right off the bottom. Cheap plastic part easy to replace.. but damaged it nonetheless.
The only reason I go to a drive through (non touchless) car wash is because my husband bought coupons for a fundraiser and his car is too low.. someone has to use it
