Totally lost on what MTF to use...
I plan to change my manual tranny fluid. It's a 05 V6 with 144k miles. Just bought it and that's why I wanna change the MTF.
Searched on google and read many posts. then get lost
Some say use ATF, and says the T5 is not designed to use gear oil. (If i'm going to use ATF, should I use the ones with Mercon V?, like this? http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...content=value4)
While some say you can use ATF but synchromesh (which I found it is a GM product and is called "gear oil") will give a smoother shift.
Just wanna get some ideas from you guys.
Should I go with the cheap Mercon V ATF?, or buy the Pennzoil Synchromesh?
BTW: is 3qts enough for the job? or I need to get an extra qt?

Use ATF like our operating manual calls for. I have done 2 changes with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF because it's on the shelf at AutoZone here. Others love Royal Purple and the like, but I'm pleased with the Mobil 1.
If I remember right it takes about 3.5 quarts, so buy the extra one. Plus I always loose some filling up the giant syringe pump I use....gotta get something better for next time.
Good idea to change it at your high mileage...be nice if someone had done it before. My first was at ~80K and the factory fluid was black-ish, no burnt smell, but def not reddish anymore.
